Atty. Maniego is highly accomplished Lawyer and Industrial Engineer. He also has a Master’s Degree in Business Economics.

He obtained both his Bachelor of Industrial Engineering and Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Philippines in Diliman. He is a member of the elite Order of the Purple Feather and received the Dean’s Medal for Academic Excellence in 2004. He is also a member of the 2003 Jessup Moot Court Team and served as President of the Law Student Government from 2003 to 2004.

Prior to joining the Firm, Atty. Maniego served as OIC-President and Chief Executive Officer of the PHILIPPINE NATIONAL OIL COMPANY- RENEWABLES CORPORATION (PNOC-RC), the organization spearheading the country’s renewable energy program. As President, his invaluable contributions to the organization included the following:

  • Developed the mission, vision, values and business plan of the company.
  • Led the company in securing the service contracts for 11 hydro power projects & 3 geothermal power projects.
  • Organized the project companies and joint ventures to implement the above renewable energy projects.
  • Provided inputs and assistance in the drafting of the Implementing Rules and Regulations and Guidelines of the
  • Renewable Energy Act of 2008
  • Served as representative of PNOC to the NREB, where he served as Chairman of several Subcommittees and

Atty Maniego also acted as an Advisor to the National Renewable Energy Board (NREB) and headed the following Committees and Working Groups:

  • Chairman, Technical Working Group, Renewable Portfolio Standards
  • Chairman, Technical Working Group, Installation Caps
  • Chairman, Technical Working Group, Feed-in Tariff Pricing Mechanism
  • Chairman, Subcommittee, Code of Ethics

Atty. Maniego is the author of numerous scholarly papers, including:

  • Renewable Energy Projects in the Philippines: Asean Korea Project Plaza, Seoul, Korea
  • Climate Change & Energy In the Philippines: ADB Study Workshop on Climate Change & Energy, Bangkok
  • Lex Talionis versus Jus Civitatis: Harmonizing State Security & Human Rights

Atty. Maniego also worked here and abroad as senior company executive for the Tuason Group of Companies and the Yujuico Group of Companies. He has had advanced training in Germany in industrial engineering, metal working, metal casting & cost accounting with companies such as Ford Motors & Rheinstahl Foundry.

In 2010, Atty. Maniego was appointed by President Benigno S. Aquino III as Chairman of the National Renewable Energy Board (NREB).
